What we collect
We only collect what we need in order to answer your enquiry and design your project.
Information you give us
- Your name, telephone number and email address when you contact us.
- How you heard about us, when you tell us on the enquiry form.
- Your address, when we need it to visit your home for a survey or consultation.
- Details about your project, such as the room, your ideas, your timescale and your approximate budget.
- Any measurements, plans or photographs you share with us so that we can prepare a design.
- Records of our correspondence, including emails, notes from calls and meetings, quotations and orders.
Information collected automatically
- The standard technical details our web host records whenever a page is requested, such as your IP address, browser type and the page viewed. These logs keep the site secure and working, and we do not use them to identify you.
We do not ask for, and would rather you did not send us, sensitive information such as health details or financial account numbers. We do not knowingly collect information about children.
How we use it and why we are allowed to
UK data protection law requires us to have a lawful basis for using your information. Ours are set out below.
| What we do | Our lawful basis |
|---|---|
| Reply to your enquiry, arrange a consultation and prepare a design and quotation | Steps taken at your request before entering into a contract |
| Supply, install and support the kitchen or furniture you order, and honour warranties | Performance of our contract with you |
| Keep records of quotations, orders and correspondence | Our legitimate interest in running the business and resolving any dispute, and our legal obligations for accounting records |
| Keep the website secure and working | Our legitimate interest in running a safe, reliable website |
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not add you to a marketing list simply because you enquired. If we ever want to send you marketing by email, we will ask you first, and every message will include a way to stop receiving them.
Cookies and tracking
Cookies are small files stored on your device. Similar technologies, such as tracking pixels and local storage, work in comparable ways.
This website does not set any cookies. It uses no analytics, advertising or tracking tools and stores nothing on your device, which is why you will not see a cookie banner here.
Maps
The contact page shows the area we cover using OpenStreetMap. Loading the map requests map images from OpenStreetMap’s servers, which means they receive your IP address, in the same way as any image on any website. It sets no cookies and is not used for advertising. You can read the OpenStreetMap Foundation privacy policy.
If we ever add analytics or advertising tools, we will update this policy first and ask for your consent before any of them are used.
Managing cookies
Every major browser lets you view, block and delete cookies through its settings, for this site and any other you visit.
Who we share information with
We share your information only where it is needed to deliver your project or run the business.
- Manufacturers and suppliers, so that your furniture, appliances and worktops can be made and delivered.
- Installers and trades working on your project, such as fitters, electricians and plumbers.
- Service providers who help us operate, including our website host, email provider and accountant.
- Professional advisers or authorities, where we are required to do so by law.
How long we keep it
- Enquiries that do not lead to a project: normally up to two years, in case you come back to us. A copy of each website enquiry is also kept in a log on our web server so that nothing is lost if an email fails to arrive.
- Customer project records: for the life of any warranty and for at least six years afterwards, so that we can honour guarantees and answer questions about work we carried out.
- Accounting records: six years, as required by HMRC.
Transfers outside the UK
Some of the service providers we use, such as our email provider, may store or process information outside the UK. Where that happens, they must protect it using safeguards approved under UK data protection law, such as an adequacy decision or the UK International Data Transfer Agreement.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you;
- ask us to correct anything that is wrong or incomplete;
- ask us to delete information where we no longer need it;
- ask us to restrict how we use it, or object to our using it;
- ask us to transfer it to another organisation, where it is held electronically;
- withdraw your consent at any time, where we rely on consent.
To exercise any of these, please email hello@emilyevankitchens.co.uk. We will respond within one month. There is normally no charge.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, we would like the chance to put it right, so please contact us first. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, the UK regulator, at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
Security
This website is served over an encrypted connection. We limit access to your information to the people who need it, and we ask our suppliers to protect it to the same standard. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we take the protection of your information seriously.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time, for example if we start using a new service or the law changes. The date at the top of the page shows when it was last revised. Please check back occasionally.
